Alienware Area 51 – M7700 – The Dream
Flashback year 2006, everyone in the computer world got stunned as Alienware unveiled their new breed of customizable gaming laptop, the Alienware Area 51. Back then, this gaming laptop was hands down every gamers’ dream for a gaming laptop. If not for its steep price back then, everyone would probably work double jobs just to get their hands on this formerly jaw-dropping gaming notebook – including myself.
What more could a gamer ask for in a gaming laptop? What game or 3d application do you think would not be running without a snag on the Alienware Area 51 M7700’s 3.8 GHz of hyper threading raw processing power provided by Intel’s Pentium 4 processor? Add Nvidia’s GeForce 7800 GTX with 256mb of dedicated memory for stunning visuals. Not to mention its 4 GB of PC5300 DDR 2 of ram. And of course, nobody with a right mind would settle for less than 7200 rpm for a hard drive given you already have all the previously mentioned top performing specs. Definitely not I!
Oh well, those were the days when all I could do is daydream on getting my hands on the world’s best gaming laptop. Luckily for me, the time for daydreaming is over. Even with our present economic challenges, I have managed well enough to be able to finally get myself the gaming laptop that I deserve.
Dilemma to get Alienware Area 51 – M7700
Ok. Now here is the funny part. I finally got enough cash to splurge on my dream gaming laptop right? So shopping I tried to do. And guess what? Alienware does not sell my dream no more! How ironic. How ironic indeed. I guess my dream will have to remain a dream for a little bit longer – Oh yes! I definitely am not giving up on this baby!
After countless hours trying to get quality information from Alienware’s customer support on how I could get my hands on the Alienware Area 51 M7700, I gave up on the Alienware’s horrific customer service and I took a step back to assess what options I got left in getting what I have dreamed of.
Then it hit me. EBay! There, I finally found one Alienware Area 51 M7700! Right then and there, I almost purchased it outright specially with it’s less than $ 1,000 price tag. Lucky for me I did not let my emotions get the better of me. I checked on the details of the unit being sold by this EBay seller. It does look like it’s in excellent condition; I will give the unit that. However, the configured specs are a little low for my taste. And the worst part? No option for a warranty! Oh no! Definitely not going with that one now. Not unless I want to end up going bald for issues that might arise after buying the rig.
The Solution
Just when things seemed too dark, a light shined at service.ztronics.com. They had some of the few Alienware Area 51 M7700 left on the planet. And not just that. There units are configured even better than how I dreamed it should be years back. And the best part? They have a 1 year warranty as an option. Need I say more?
At long last, I’m off gaming with what the critics and gamers alike dubbed as the best gaming laptop for months on end. All thanks to everyone at service.ztronics.com specially their top-notch customer service!

Have you build that laptop yourself ?
What hardware is under the hood ?
MMC2IEC ?
Keep it plugged in when you're not using it.

vaio is really gud coz its small…..or an IBM coz that us cheap but im not sure about 180 gig on a small laptop……
just go on google and type in 'vaio' or 'ibm' laptops
did you built that laptop yourself? or have you bought it somewhere? its soooo cool *_* <3 would love to own my own one xD
It depends. Are you more partial to certain brands? When buying a laptop, remember that it only comes with trial software. Things like anti-spyware and anti-virus software, as well as Microsoft Office will have to be bought separately. Make sure you factor that into your overall budget.
The majority of laptops come with wireless cards already integrated, so that takes care of one part. High memory for a laptop is between 3-4 gbs of DD2 memory. 3 should be sufficient for a college student, unless you tend to use a lot of memory.
The next factor is size. Are you looking for something very portable? If so, you should consider something with a screen about 14.1"-15.4". There are 12" ones, but those are almost too small.
Next, consider whether AMD v. Intel is important to you. Intel processors tend to be more energy efficient, meaning they don't get quite so hot, while AMD is cheaper.
Not only that, but only 2 brands come with restore disks: Dell and Toshiba. Any other brand you would have to either have the disks made for you, make them yourself, or buy them (Restore disks allow you to put your computer back to factory settings in case you need to reboot/reset). It takes about 3 hours on average to make a set of restore disks, sometimes more.
Using those things will help you narrow down your selection significantly. Your best bet is to look at laptops on BestBuy.com and use the left hand menu to narrow down the selection. You can choose brand, size, memory, hard drive size, processor brand, etc that way. I personally recommend buying an HP, along with services like Optimization/Restore Disk Creation from Geek Squad.
Good Luck =)
This is most likely due to a bad connection somewhere within the laptop, probably near the sound car or speakers. Your only real option it to pull the laptop apart, and look for lose connections somewhere. It could be a bad pin, lose wire, or a solder that came loose somewhere.
The definite fix for this would be to replace the motherboard. I had a video problem once on a desktop that was very similar, only worked with pressure on the port, I opened up the PC, jiggled some wires and connections, and then it was fine.

Since when does the Atari 8bit have better graphics?
4 colors on screen in 160×192 vs 16
Half the graphics memory of the C64
Poor sprite capabilities ( player missiles… wtf..)
A wider base palette isn’t the same as better graphics (most Atari people think so)
For low res demos (80×192 or lower) it is great though, with 16 or even 256 colors in software driven pseudo modes.
For 2D games….. naaahh

Every Dell system is custom built giving you technology that functions the way you need it to. For walk in buying, they provide hardware, systems integration and a range of third party software, preinstalled on equipment you purchased directly from them.

how the hell do you do this stuff man???? were you a computer engineer?
The laptop/bag will cound as one carry-on, but you're allowed to take two, so you'll be fine.
I don’t forget this game !
What you'll need to do is download "Link Layer Topology Discovery Responder" to your comp that has XP. That is the only way you'll get the two comps to network together.
Here's the link for the download:

Overview
This package contains the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) responder. The network map on a computer running Windows Vista shows a graphical view of the computers and devices on your network and how they are connected by using the LLTD protocol. The LLTD responder must be installed on a computer running Windows XP before it can be detected and appear on the network map. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
you can probably switch the montiors. It is hard to do though. PC world has a how to on it I think
