Ok, well the new operating system is not coming out until at least October, as Apple delayed its release yesterday.
The prices of macs will not go up, but they probably will not go down either. Your best bet is on waiting to get it sometime before the next school year starts, when Apple releases new computers. The computers that they currently sell, should be discounted either directly on their site or possilby on their refurbished/clearance site. Also, have you checked out the educational discouts you can get on Apples? Also, other retailers, such as Amazon, sell Apple computers with rebates and do not generally charge shipping or tax on the computers…hope this helps…
Hi!! I currently own a apple laptop!! I have had it for a year now and I seem to like the normal computers instead! I just find that the apples are so confusing to download info, videos, etc. I think normal laptops are much easier to use and they are much cheaper than the apples!! Unfortuantely Apple laptops are pricey. You need to buy a used laptop if you want to buy one for $600. Check Apple store for prices.
It depends on the apple laptop's perceptions of how supportive its friends and relatives will be. Some will never come out, some will come out only to a select, trusted few friends and relatives, while others will flamboyantly make a big announcement and tell everyone they know within a few days.

Hd is weird cause you can see the ladies wrinkles LOL. Uh im used to a keyboard and for those people who say that there keys get sticky and dust protect them get an Iskin , and make sure to clean them do it. It’s productive. (-,-)) mac wheel looks so stupid LOL.
Make it touch-capable, nit-wits
If you handle a lot of media files, then plunge into the world of Apple without a care. If you plan on doing anything else, you still shouldn't worry too much. Only thing to worry about then would be your wallet. The cheapest Mac can handle media such as music, photos and videos very well and organize them and edit them easily. If you want to play games, or do programming (Basically anything else), Apple makes you pay a pretty penny for a nice computer.
Why not work with what you have?
90% of editing should be done with simple cuts or crossfades. By sticking with the basics you minimize the amount of rendering that needs to be done and you distract the audience less by not having special transitions and effects.
Don't forget, you want the audience to become so engaged by the story you as the editor/director/camera operator are telling that they forget they are watching tv. If you have basic editing software, use it to it's fullest to get your story across. Remember, it only takes a camera and the internet to reach the world, and a good story to change it!

You don't need a full on avid to be the best storyteller in the world. You need to know the fundementals of a good story, and the drive to see that story get told.

I used to have a Ibook (this was my first ever Apple computer) and just last month i got a Macbook,the NEW Macbook Air looks great but under the hood it's a bit crap,my Macbook is much better in terms of Ram/Hard drive.
If i was you i would go for the Macbook as the Macbook Air is really only for business people on the go and the money you would spend on the "Air" could be put to better use on a Macbook. Don't get me wrong the Macbook Air is fantastic to look at and is pleasing on the eye but thats all it's good for.
Not sure about glitches as Im sure it's not out on sale yet (well over here in the UK at any rate).
I think you should try to make a network. so you can access the harddrive from any computer connected securely. there is also online storage these days too.
I’m so getting a mac book wheel. Man it annoys the hell out of me how my keyboard keys get stick together and i have to constantly dust out the keys underneath the keyboard! Now with the macbook wheel it will save me a lot of time and money. All I would have to do is wipe the surface and my macbook wheel is good to go!
