How To Remove Windows Vista And Install Windows XP

Microsoft has designated 2 levels of compatibility for the Windows Vista release. These 2 levels refer to hardware that will support Windows Vista to varying degrees. These levels are designated Windows Vista Capable and Windows Vista Premium.
Windows Vista Capable PC
Windows Vista capable, means that your present hardware meets the absolute minimum requirements install and run Windows Vista.
-
A modern processor (at least 800MHz).
512 MB of system memory.
A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable, with a minimum of 64mb of RAM.
Windows Vista Premium Ready PC
A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC, means your hardware meets the minimum requirements to use most additional features of Windows Vista that enhances the user experience. In other words, the higher minimum requirements will improve the system performance and enhance advanced media such as Windows Aero. These are the recommended minimum requirements.
-
1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor).
1 GB of system memory.
Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum), Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.
40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
DVD-ROM Drive.
Audio output capability.
Internet access capability.
Summary
The biggest difference between Windows Vista and Windows XP are the system memory and video requirements. Windows XP will run well with 128 MB video card and 1 GB of system RAM. Ironically that should be considered the minimum to install Windows Vista.
Windows Vista is much more graphic intensive than Windows XP and creates a richer media experience. Of course these requirements increase the cost of hardware needed to run Windows Vista. For those who have been dragging there feet on the video and RAM front have the media creators and PC gamers to blame for the extra cost.
If you have read some of my other computer articles or guides you will already know that I never recommend using advertised minimum hardware requirements. When you read the words “minimum requirements”, the bare minimum is what you get. Any time you upgrade a PC to the minimum recommended requirements the results will always be a disappointing.
With that in mind, my recommendations for installing Windows Vista are the following.
-
2 GHz +, 64 bit or Duel Core processor (Intel Duo Core or AMD X2 for Gaming)
2 GB +, of matching system RAM
256 MB +, ATI or nVidia graphics card (not integrated on board)
40 GB +, Hard Disk (15 GB free space required for Vista install)
CD-DVD ROM
Other required hardware should be obvious.
Take note that video integrated on to the motherboard is NOT recommended. Integrated video uses system RAM which robs your system of resources and increases your memory requirements. Also there are add-on video cards that use system RAM and have very little memory of there own. When buying an add-on video card read the memory specifications very carefully.
Windows Vista will run smoothly on a PC meeting these recommendations. Most users will only need to upgrade their video card and add system RAM. Windows Vista supports most of the same hardware that Windows XP supports. Motherboards, Modems, Ethernet, Hard Disks and other common hardware in use today are supported.

Help answer the question about install windows vista
Can I install Windows Vista Upgrade on my partitioned mac without previously having an OS?I have an imac that I want to partition and install vista on. My question is, is it possible to just buy the windows upgrade version to install onto the mac? I currently have a pc (xp) that I want to upgrade and the new mac, so would this be possible to also install the upgrade version or would I have to buy the brand new version?

You can find your drivers at driversguide.com for free.I used it and they have it all, simple to use.Hope this helps.
Umm… I'm not sure on a downgrade. When I installed Vista I did it on a partition, so when I went to remove that pile of filth, I just cleared the partition.
If you have a CD Burner or DVD Burner, just burn everything you want to keep.
I definitely see this as another reason to get a macbook or imac. Even people who need windows for job or just like to game in windows you can. Pretty sweet. Theres also ways to run vista while running mac, I don’t remember the program but it’s not free.

Read that
first install XP then delete Vista from control panel>remove windows components>restart your computer
When installing XP there is an option to format the disk during install and this will remove vista from your computer. I would suggest you get the relevant drivers and back up your information before formatting.
2 computers in 1? u must be dreaming… the systems that machintosh puts together are weak, so its just like having 2 partitions on h-drive, not 2 comps
If you dont have a backup partition or the dvd to reinstall vista if you would ever want it again, then you wont have vista. Thats about it
click the date and time. then click Open Date and Time Preferences. Then click the year and type in 200, then any number BUT 6 and higher.
can I use my Vista Home Premium Recovery Media disk to run install Vista?
THAT IS VERY EASY.
The only thing you have to do is going on the Sony site and download the drivers for your mobile.

Then you need a XP with a licence
—
Or you can get a Sony Recovery CD in XP Home
—
MS permits the downgrading Vista to XP only for the Pro versions for free

For the thumb down…
In France, you can by the Original CD XP for VAIO for 20 €, that means 30$

Use Everest or Aida or any pgm who gives you informations on you motherboard.
The go on the board's manufacturer and download the drivers.
For instance, if your bios is a VIA, go to viaarena.com and download hyperion 5 in 1, you'll got everything you need.
By the way, Best Buy are crooks if they charge you 150 $ for nothing
Only problem I have with this video, is that after you get to the part with the 31.7GB partition, the video doesn’t explain that you need to click on advanced options and format the disk..
It only takes about 10 seconds, but it needs to be done..
From what i understand you want to install xp on your computer until you get enough money for vista. Then install vista after removing windows xp. IF that's the case then not only will you have to install your drivers again but any programs you have installed on xp will have to be re-installed. I recommend just sticking with xp, IMO it is much more stable and uses less resources than vista does.
Just to give you an idea of how much vista hogs your system. My computer came with vista pre-installed. It idled at 38% with no programs running in the background. I un-installed vista and put xp on my computer and i ran 19% with no program open. I idle at 40% with over 10 programs open at once running in the background (anti virus, itunes etc.etc.)
Anyways if you do go the way you are talking you will also need drivers compatible with vista. The ones that are compatible with xp only will NOT work.
My best friend, Joannie, has a new Toshiba laptop. She is also a computer geek! LOL Anyway, her first advice is that Vista runs better and you should keep it, just learn to use it. However, if you really want to change … you need to create a Toshiba Recovery disc and save to CD. then go to the Toshiba website and get all the drivers you need for sound, video, etc etc for XP and put them on disc. When you are confident you have all recovery information … you need to format your harddrive and load XP home.
Sounds to me that the best advice was the first … keep Vista!
