FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
- Where can I find a list of HSUPA networks in my area?
For a full list of compatible networks, please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HSUPA_networks - Can I use this wireless modem with my 2G or 2.5G card? Can I use it with Edge?
Yes. This modem supports 2G, 2.5G, 3G, and 3.5G cards. - Do I need any extra software to use this HSUPA wireless modem?
No. The only software you will need is inside the USB key. - What kind of download speeds can I expect with this HSUPA wireless modem?
This modem supports download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. Actual download speeds depend on factors such as your service provider, your proximity to the base-station and how many other people are sharing the overall bandwidth. - Can I use this modem for downloading movies and playing massive multiplayer games on the internet?
No. At the speeds current networks support, this modem is perfect for functions like browsing the internet, sending emails, and chatting online. - How does this device work? Do I need to have some arrangement with the telephone company?
The device requires a SIM card. You can connect to the internet on high-speed tri-band UMTS networks if your local area supports this. HSUPA Wireless USB Modem for Laptops Great!!by Lord Albano Coelho – on 07/02/2009
I’m impressed in a way I never though I would be with a modem. Flawlessly designed software – Mobile Connect – and drivers installation (first use only). The software is able to detect the carrier and auto-connect using the correct profile. This should work for any major worldwide carrier; if not a quite easy and straightforward manual configuration of a new profile gets you surfing in no time. More stable and reliable than most modems sold or bundled by Vodafone in Europe and no contract either. SMS and Phonebook features work great as well. On the down side it’s not supported (yet) in Linux; otherwise it would be perfect (5 stars).

its a low profile gaming laptop, ppl in PC world are stupid, dnt listen to them. Go to PC world and check each laptop n look for the best GPU and CPU in the laptop. they got better gaming laptop than the advent 5401
One of the plastic tabs on the back of the key or the hinge clip under the key might have broke off. You can buy a replacement Escape key kit for most laptop models here:

take it back to them and make them make it work. But pretty much spending all that money you could have just gotten another laptop or get a wireless keyboard
While many will advise against the "service plan" since they consider them rip-off, I would say that for anything that would be a pain to repair, and which can be prone to defects or be as expensive to fix as purchasing, I would tell you to get that plan for at least 2 years, especially with laptops.
They should have taken your personal information at the time of purchase, so it should be in their system.
I'd say that if you call them, they'll be able to help, look it up.
lol hey i downloaded the driver and im looking in the folder but i cant find the INF link
do u know what it looks like?
I should give this a try. I flashed my 8400m gs with 637 510 so i can use latest drivers..
Well if he has tried another keyboard and it still doesn't work, replacing the motherboard would be the thing to do. But seen that this would be quite expensive, you would be better off buying a new laptop.
it is a gaming laptop, i went to pc world and asked for the best gaming laptop they had, it was the advent 5401.
lol so if i use 2.1ghz and 8400m gs oced with 64bit windows 7 it should run better?

It is more than likely time for a new laptop. There's a slim chance that the keyboard and only the keyboard is faulty, in which case replacing the whole keyboard would do the trick. You'd have to find and purchase the keyboard yourself to replace it without going to a repair shop.
Here's the problem with spilling "a little" on a laptop: the motherboard is right under the keyboard. When that goes, repairs are more expensive than a new laptop.
With a 2002 laptop, your choice is a no-brainer. Since the life cycles of laptops tend to be 3-5 years, dumping money into a six year old laptop doesn't make sense, even if it's just the keyboard–which is unlikely.
The next time you spill something on a laptop, or any electronic device, rip the AC adapter and battery out of it as fast as you can move. The combination of water and electricity is lethal for gadgets, and quick action can sometimes prevent shorted circuitry. In about three days, it's usually safe to power them back up and see how much damage has been done.
Depends… ribbons are often creased to make them fit into a laptop, that alone would not necessarily be the problem. What would make a difference is if it was creased to the point of actually breaking the wires inside the cable, which is actually rare(?)
There is also another issue you may need to consider – what if the reason that your old keyboard stopped typing was not because the keyboard was bad but because the keyboard controller circuitry on the motherboard (which takes the input signals from the keyboard and sends them on to the CPU) actual died? If so then you would need a new motherboard and not a new keyboard.
That kind of thing does occur, and is the reason the tech shops feel compelled to charge so much labor to repair computers.
…
Most Laptop keyboards are easy to replace. If it’s a late model name brand laptop it should be no problem to have it replaced. Take it to the repair shop but be sure to get a quote prior to having the work done.
9 times out of 10 Best Buy will not repair your keyboard. They will send it to manufacturer under warranty. If you do not have a warranty, they will notify you of all charges and get your permission to proceed.
