  1. warranty, and the fact that something can still be messed up

  2. I wouldn’t buy any computer refurbished. Its better to buy a brand new one. Plus it could of traces of illegal content.

  3. What is your main concern really? Is it buying from Overstock.com, buying a refurbished laptop or other?

I haven’t bought from Ostock before, I would hope the transaction goes well. They do offer a two year protection for $70 that sounds good:

…if you are concerned it dying after 90 day of warranty. With a laptop … getting moved around alot is a good idea anyway.

Refurbished electronic are items that are returned to the mfg’ for any reason. Some times cosmetic, sometimes nothing wrong with the hardware at all, like if if was returned from a retailer because it’s open box and the retailer couldn’t put on sale floor again. If so it’s returned to the mfg, fixed and all items that go with it is tested with more scrutiny to higher mfg specifications than what rolls off the assembly line and gets a fresh install of the OS. Read up on it more if you haven’t yet.
