Some equate used laptop computers with outdated technology. That’s far from being the case. True, computer technology evolves quickly but who can say with a straight face that a 2-3 year old, and even older, notebook is not up to the job anymore? A computer salesman, that’s who, but they are full of it, you and I know that. But it can’t run the latest games…true but you don’t get a cheap used laptop for that, if you want to run the latest and greatest pony up the cash for a new quad core desktop or an Alienware laptop.

No, where used cheap laptops shine is in their offer: decent technology at a decent price that can do virtually everything you’ll ask from it. Let us face it, even budget laptops of today come with pretty good specs as standard, it’s like cars….base models of today have nothing to do with base models of five years ago or more. Nowadays, used laptops for sale feature upgraded displays, style and equipment (DVD, CD-RW etc.). Let us have a look at some of these features in more details.

First, laptop monitors. There are two factors here, size of the screen and resolution. Used laptop screens usually measure between 12 and 20 inches. Resolution is between 800 x 600 pixels and 1680×1050 pixels for a cinema type monitor. Resolution plays an important role in the quality of the image displayed by your used or refurbished laptop. Windows displays best with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Don’t forget though that the biggest your laptop monitor, the heavier your used laptop will be. If you intend to carry it around, make sure your used notebook is not overly heavy.

Another thing is the style of that cheap used laptop we all want. Just because it is not new does not have to mean it should be ugly. Thankfully, laptop manufacturer have begun to take design into consideration over the past few year and you can find today a variety of used cheap laptop computers in all sorts of colors, red, green, blue, pink, not just the traditional black or gray. Some used laptops also feature nice equipment such as an integrated webcam, a blue ray disc drive and more. So here it is: cheap used laptops do not mean outdated. In these days of economic difficulties they are the smart buys: a good used laptop will last you years for half or more than half off the price of new computers.
